The Rose of Versailles

Filed under: Video Games, TV, Lifestyle, Anime

Actually, more like Lady Lady. For some reason I’ve been watching old animated series that I used to like when I was a kid. I love it! Even though my sister doesn’t, despite watching and enjoying it as a child. She said it is much too sad for her taste, when normally she’s the one into “all things gloomy” while I’m all about sunshine and cheerful colours. Its sequel Hello! Lady Lynn is what I liked even more due to Lynn’s involvement in her school’s equestrian team. I used to LOVE that as a child. It made me feel glee whenever I saw anything resembling jumps in a riding ring… I am so happy to finally have experienced jumping. Here are the openings and ending of the series for your viewing pleasure!

For a long time…every time I went to the bathroom it sounded like there was someone in my room jumping on my bed. Of course, being me, I took no notice of it and didn’t even try figuring out where the sound came from and what it really was. I just figured “there has to be a more logical explanation” and left it at that. Also, it is quite satisfying when people are like, “What? There are ghosts in your room!?” to which I reply, “Hmm… who knows {mysterious smile}”. This evening, I was in my bathroom attending to my bi-daily facial ritual when I started to hear that noise again. In frustration I thought, “What IS that? It makes no sense!”. Then I figured out that… it was me… my continuously shifting weight between my feet in my bathroom slippers made that noise… LOL!

I have finally come to the conclusion that no watch could ever suit my Juicy Couture jewelery, and that it is so big that it is not meant to be worn with watches anyway. Or that’s just not my style because it feels like too much. I haven’t been able to wear their charms on the bracelet for a very long time anyway… feels like too much.

After years of owning my DS Lite, I finally decided to cute-ify it!

Pink Venus

This day was lost on so many different things and I really should have been spending my time differently. Instead of actually starting what I am supposed to do, I keep having these thoughts of rearranging my stuff in my room; in other words, “Spring Cleaning”. So in the spirit of actually doing what needs to be done, and de-stressing, I thought I’d note it down here in a list (like I seem to do, every other semester…):

  • Start with two chapters, take notes and study them

  • Finish off 1/4 quarter of report

  • Study two more chapters

  • Check that I’ve finished 1/2 of report

  • Study chapters 5 and 6

  • Take a short refreshing break! Because you have to factor it in

  • Finish off report

  • Study chapters 7 and 8

  • Format report and include references and citations

  • Call and tell receptionist about class…sigh. This will be done at 8am, oops did I forget to factor in sleep?

  • Review exam materials again

And then we’ll take it from there. Now I do realize this does not mean a thing to all you random people out there that might stumble around here, it even kind of weirds me out to go back to my old entries and read all those lists I used to make – but I have to make them somewhere to be able to get through my stressful times.

While I’m still in the mood to blog, I thought I’d talk about my recent experiences with the Nintendo DSi. Upon hearing of it for the first time, I was not even interested… and even more disappointed that it cannot do my laundry (inside joke). After trying one out for the first time every last night, I have to say I am intrigued! Or perhaps had too much fun with the camera features. Anything that allows me to see the screen better is a thumbs up for me, as well. But I don’t think I’m gonna go out and get one yet. I’ll probably make a more mature and thought-out decision when I’m done with my mid-semester stuff.

I have an awful headache right now but I’ll just say one last thing before I go. I got some of the Hello Kitty collection stuff from MAC… and now I’m interested in the upcoming Sugarsweet (it is not released here yet) but mostly for their sugarsweet shadesticks!

Body Combat

After irregularly (due to college & other activities!) attending those dance-for-fitness classes, I decided to finally try something different that actually involves weights and using my arms for something semi-useful. This class involves 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of weights and 20 minutes of stretching! I actually did push-ups! Who knew this could ever happen! I wonder if I should tape my wrists at least when I attend classes like these though, to prevent me from over-flexing them. The first time I realized that I could have my elbows point upwards with my arms stretched out… I kept doing it for most of the day because it seemed so hilarious. It wasn’t that hilarious the next day when the pain started to kick in. Ouch.

Today I realized that I’ve been ignoring Persona 4 due to its complexity and how I was not able to keep up with what’s going on because my brain has not given it a logical sequence, yet. So it was time to restart it and remember how to play! But… I got bored because they talk too much. I need my PS3 back, please! Speaking of electronics, I saw a laptop I really like.

My addiction to Poupee Girl has not really gone down, except I’m tired of comment clubs and such and decided to chill for a while and actually do what I like to do – which is comment on my poupee friends’ newest items! When a new event arrives on poupee… I never want to use the items from the event because everyone else is using them. Or well, I like to use them in a “unique” way and I don’t want the way other people use them to influence me! It also gets tiring to see a lot of people more or less colour coordinated. When the Halloween event was here I was in my “my doll doesn’t need new stuff” mood and really only got those garter boots and the cat doll that came with it (and the mummy outfit too since it didn’t stand out)... and I totally forgot about them. While some people might find this a very silly game of “dress up” and “aren’t you a little old to play with dolls?”, in actuality… the clothes in poupee girl are very close to real life and for me it is somewhat simulating to mix and match since I rarely do it in real life.

Are my posts lacking substance lately? Oh well…

I came, I saw… I returned home

Yesterday, I spent some time watching The Shawshank Redemption after being completely against it. To be honest, I’m glad I decided to agree. I had a lightbulb over my head throughout its duration. It reminded me of something very important, something we tend to forget about in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. Hope. IMDB has this tagline for the movie: “Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.”, I will not even go about to describing my favourite scenes, lines and events, but I will say this: the character of Andy Dufresne is inspirational, and in a way, a role model. Perhaps I wouldn’t rate this movie as the best all time movie, because really, what is the criteria for that? However, I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a movie that affected me in this way, maybe A Beautiful Mind was a close match?

This probably means that I like movies again! Or at least, more willing to watch them. And before I forget, if you celebrate Eid Al Adha – I hope you had a good one!

Now before I go back to the game that I’m playing (the whats and hows will probably come at a later time), here is something that I wanted to share. These pictures are stamped with 4-November-2008. That was the first and last time that I entered Dubai Mall. I didn’t see much, we were only there for about 30 minutes. I found the ice rink very interesting! Much bigger than the one near my house. The video in the end is the fashion runway. Enjoy!

Tour de Basque

Here are a few things I learned or realized in the past few days (since I can’t seem to remember what I wanted to blog about every time I find myself faced with this page):

  • Secretly, I still yearn for figure skating. I currently do not have a coach but I am expecting a pair of skates.

  • My ability to talk – to present – confidently with a smile on my face has drasticaly improved, even if I am just spewing out random trash that means nothing to me.

  • My diet is ruined. Ruined ruind ruined! I’m not accepting any candy from my classmates again, ever!

Last week, I had my very first stable management class. We were supposed to have these a long time ago but my regular riding place doesn’t really offer them. Although I already knew how to tack up (asked my trainer to show me a few months into my lessons), had a groom show me how to use the brushes and normally tried to hose down the horses I ride and graze them after I was doing riding – it was still a lesson that I got really excited about!

The mare I was paired with was enjoying a nice meal. When she saw me coming at her with a halter & lead rope she actually got quite upset thinking she was going to be taken away from her yummy hay into a boring lesson. When she realized that she was not going to be taken anywhere, she started to relax as she continued munching on her meal. This made me realize that this is why I would want horses of my own one day. To take care of them and just bond with them, not purely for riding. I found spending time with that little mare very soothing. When I saw horse owners taking care of their own horses, bringing them their feed, tacking and untacking, picking out their hoofs, it made me feel very happy and I felt that those people were lucky.

This is the last comic book I read & enjoyed. The Phoenix Wright Case Files – all fanwork. It was a very interesting read. Made me nostalgic towards the games! I hear there’s an Edgeworth version coming out in February.

It’s Official

Filed under: General, Video Games, MMORPG

I’m not really sure what to say. It’s nice to be able to play an MMO game and forget about everything else. But geez, I think I’m officially an addict. Just got xfire a few days ago to be able to chat to / call friends while playing. My latest character is fun. My first character was a female mesmer, that I ended up hating, subsequently, not really enjoying the game as a whole. With my new elementalist, however, Guild Wars became a whole other experiance. It is a male character that looks extremely femininee. I mean, I tried to make him more masculine by choosing a meaner (think rougher, just a bit) looking face but it didn’t work. Then to make things worse, my friend gave me a rose (equipment, you can see it one of these screenshots). So every time we leave town we end up having a laugh about it because it just SCREAMS. Think Ouran High School Host Club. Yeah. Like that.
